Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater is proud of its tradition of hosting the very best in live stage theatrical entertainment. To help ensure that every guest and attendee has a wonderful time during their visit, the venue has created a set of rules and guidelines detailed below. Failure to abide by the following rules and policies may result in expulsion from the venue. Individual events and shows may have additional or altered rules, so please be sure to check your ticketed event guide or program for details.

Adapted Tours

Lincoln Center Guided Tours can be adapted to meet a range of needs including American Sign Language interpretation, assistive listening devices, touch, and verbal description, or sensory supports for visitors with autism. Accessibility Accommodations

  • Wheelchair Access

    Mitzi E Newhouse Theater is wheelchair accessible. You can reach the Josie Robertson Plaza, take the ramp adjacent to the main staircase along Columbus Avenue, or the elevator by the Lincoln Center Theater on 65th street between Columbus and Amsterdam Avenues.

    Wheelchair accessible locations and designated aisle transfer seats are available for all Lincoln Center performances. Wheelchair loans may also be requested at most venues.  To request wheelchair loans, contact Central Security at [check with Security and FOH on this]

    To ensure comfort and emergency evacuation safety, Lincoln Center ushers at David Geffen Hall and Alice Tully Hall will check mobility assistive device when patrons reach their seats and will ensure that patrons shall have access to their devices upon request, or during breaks in the performance, and at the performance end.

  • Large Print & Braille Programs

    Large Print and Braille programs are available for most Lincoln Center performances. Ushers or guest services will be able to help you.

  • Service Animals

    Service animals are welcome at Lincoln Center. 

  • Assistive Listening Systems

    Assistive Listening Devices with headsets and neck loops are available at all Lincoln Center venues.  To learn more about devices available at each venue, visit individual venue pages or the Campus Accessibility Guide.

    The Vivian Beaumont Theater and Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater are now equipped with Induction Hearing Loops for state-of-the-art assistive listening.

  • ASL, Captioning and Audio Description

    American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation, captioning, and audio description may be available for select performances and events. Visit the event page to learn more about available accommodations.  To request accommodations for performances, send requests to the host venue at least three weeks before the performance date, or to [email protected] or 212.875.5375.

  • Accessible Ticketing

    All Lincoln Center venues have accessible seat locations available.  Most accommodation and purchasing queries can be addressed by box office personnel at the theater you are visiting or by contacting Lincoln Center’s Guest Services line at 212.875.5456.

Arrival Policy

Arriving late may result in guests being asked to wait in the lobby until a designated break period. To avoid frustration, Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater recommends that you arrive no later than 30 minutes before a ticketed event to make sure you have plenty of time to find parking and get to your seat.

Bag Policy

Event staff reserves the right to inspect any bags for inspection. Guests have the right to refuse searches and event staff reserve the right to deny entry. Prohibited items that are not illegal may be returned to a guest’s vehicle or disposed of before entry.

Cancellation Policy

Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater will make every effort to announce cancellations due to severe weather or artist cancellation as soon as possible. If your ticketed event is canceled, please call 212-501-3100 to ask about rescheduling or ticket refund procedures and policies.

Children Policy

Some shows or events may not be appropriate for younger children due to subject matter, loud noises, or potentially upsetting imagery. Please refer to the event description or program guide for help in selecting the right events for your family. Please refer to the event description regarding whether younger children require their tickets. If you are not certain, you may call 212-501-3100 for help.

Food Policy

Outside food and drink are not allowed in the theater for most events and shows. Refreshments are available before the show opens and during intermission. If a show has a different policy, it will be explained in the program guide or description.

Lost and Found Policy

Lost an item at an event? You can ask event staff for help with finding the lost and found service. You can also call 212-501-3100 after the show. Please be prepared to leave your full name, contact information, and a detailed description of your lost item. Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater does not claim responsibility for your lost possessions.

Prohibited Items

Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater restricts certain items within the theater in the interests of safety and to preserve the atmosphere of enjoyment for other guests. While some events may vary, the following is relevant to most productions. Please contact Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater at 212-501-3100 if you have any questions or refer to your ticketed event description and program.

  • Backpacks may be subject to search by event staff
  • Outside drinks, coolers, cans, cups, bottles, and beverages
  • Knives, guns, and any type of weapons or explosives
  • Professional cameras and recording equipment are usually not allowed during concerts and festivals
  • Drones or unmanned aerial vehicles
  • Laser pointers
  • Noisemakers, whistles and air horns
  • Illegal drugs or substances
  • Animals (except service animals)
  • Cigarettes, vapes, or other smoking paraphernalia may not be used within the venue or 20ft of entrances. Please call 212-501-3100 to ask about designated smoking areas.
  • Personal property or clothing that is a potential hazard to others (e.g. chains, wallet chains or jewelry with spiked edges)
  • Signs, clothing, or posters featuring offensive imagery or text
